| The Culture Tall Ships Regatta in Gdynia officially opened! |

2011 blue and white balloons are flying over Tricity, which means that the Regatta in Gdynia can be considered as open. Today (2 September) at the President's Basin surrounded by the sailing ships, main heroes of this 4-day event, an official opening ceremony of The Culture Tall Ships Regatta took place.
In the ceremony participated: - Anna Wypych-Namiotko - Undersecretary of State in the Ministry of Infrastructure and a master mariner, - Robin Snouck Hurgronje - the Chairman of The Culture Tall Ships Regatta, - Wojciech Szczurek- Mayor of Gdynia - Adam Jasser - Prezydent of Sail Training Association Poland. The Chairman expressed his happiness from the fact that he could visit Gdynia again. For the first time he visited the city as a captain of one of the vessels taking part in the regatta in 1992. The Mayor of Gdynia invited the resident and tourists for the regatta and underlined that everyone will experience beautiful days. He also wished unique impressions and great fun. The ceremony was crowned by the Undersecretary, who rang the bell, a gunshot was given from the deck of ORP "Błyskawica", ship's sirens reverberated, 2011 balloons were let out and they flew into the direction of Tricity. |
