The beginning of July will not only be about enjoying the Races, music and fun, but also a huge logistic and organizational challenge for the City.
On 2 - 5 July 2009 Gdynia will be the stage of two major events - The Tall Ships' Races and the Heineken Open'er Festival. The City have spent several months preparing plans and options for the organization of traffic in Gdynia, so that both public transport and the movement of residents and tourists around the city take place as smoothly as possible. The main priority is safety, therefore the area of The Tall Ships` Races - and the centre of Gdynia - will be the limited traffic zone, with parking sites available during these four days only for the residents of that area, municipal services, organizers and companies that operate here. Additional locations (indicated by the organizers) outside the limited traffic zone will serve as parking sites. At the entrances to Gdynia from Rumia and Sopot information points for drivers will be placed to avoid, or at least minimize, the problems with moving around the city in these days.
