Frigate – new currency in Gdynia during holidays! |
During The Tall Ships' Races 2009 a new local currency can be used - Gdynia frigate. It's also a windfall for numismatics!
Why Gdynia frigate?
Firstly, Gdynia is the only Polish city - a home port for this type of ships and a frigate under full sail is one the canons of beauty. Secondly, this year the most famous Polish frigate - Dar Pomorza celebrates her centenary. And last but not least - our famous "white frigate" - Dar Młodzieży will be one the participants of The Tall Ships' Races taking place for the fourth time in Gdynia.
There will be 70 000 coins on the market:
1. 20 000 brass coins of 3 frigates (each values 3 PLN) with an image of Dar Młodzieży; 2. 20 000 brass coins of 3 frigates (each values 3 PLN) with an image of Gdynia Marina from bird's eye view 3. 15 000 bimetal coins of 7 frigates (each values 7 PLN) with an image of Dar Pomorza; 4. 15 000 coins of 7 frigates (each values 7 PLN) with an image of Sea Towers.
Gdynia frigates will be available from 2 July 2009 till the end of August. In this period they will be accepted in places that take part in this promotional event - shops, cafes and museums (see the list attached).
How can you become a possessor of Gdynia frigate?
1. By buying a product of ordering a service in one of the venues taking part in this project. 2. By buying a frigate at the Amber Future stand in Park Rady Europy (Council of Europe Park). |
