Eighteen years later Gdynia hosted again big sailing vessels which finished The Cutty Sark Tall Ships' Races. This took place on 7-10 August 1992. Only 52 vessels arrived, because the European event coincided with the Grand Regatta Columbus '92, transatlantic races organized to commemorate the 500th anniversary of the discovery of America. Gdynia celebrated the American anniversary with a show entitled Christopher Columbus Book with Daniel Olbrychski playing the main part and Czesław Niemen's music. Dar Pomorza's deck was an unusual stage and set for the show. There were also other exciting things happening. The yacht Hetman of the Gdynia Yacht Club Kotwica, returning after suffering damage at sea, ran aground almost befor the spectators' eyes. The 1st Sailing Fair "Sail Show '92" was very popular with visitors; the prize for a rowing-sailing boat, the Gold Keel '92", was given to Żuławy Shipyard in Piaskowo. The main prize, the Cutty Sark Trophy went to the Swedish scooner Gladan, the Class-3 race winner was Nauticus of the Yacht Club Kotwica, and Dar Pomorza, a museum ship  since 1982, stood as the parade stand on the waters of the Gulf of Gdańsk during the final parade. International crews, Gdynia's residents and visitors – they all created an atmosphere of sailing feast, having fun at numerous events.
